Adolph Walter Behnke

Adolph Walter Behnke (76), while surrounded by family, passed away on January 5th, 2023 at his home in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, following a long and courageous battle with gastric cancer. He was a loving husband, proud father, Opa and friend.

Adolph was born April 17th, 1946, to Theodore and Gertrude (Piper) Behnke in Dusseldorf Germany. He grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, which is where he met the love of his life, Beverley Kerr, in the 8th grade. He knew the moment he met her that he wanted to spend his life with her, and they were married on June 3rd, 1967. Adolph and Beverley have two loving children; Katherine Behnke and Kevin Behnke. The family relocated to Colorado for Adolph’s job with Great West Life & Annuity Insurance in 1982. He worked for Great West Life for 40 years before retiring in 2011.

Adolph enjoyed golfing, playing cards, traveling, fishing, cheering on his children and grandchildren in sports and academics, and making people laugh with his wit and plethora of dad-jokes. In his younger years Adolph enjoyed curling and in 1990 Beverley and Adolph’s curling team won the USA Mixed National Championships.

Adolph leaves behind his wife, Beverley; their two children, Katherine Behnke and Kevin (Kelly) Behnke; their two grandchildren, Aidan Behnke and Declan Behnke; as well as many friends that became family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of life will take place at a later time.
