Allen Gene Wertz, 66, passed away peacefully at Cedars Healthcare Center after battling sever illness for a very long time. Allen was born Oct 03, 1957, to James and Janiece Wertz in Chadron Nebraska

Allen grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Kimball County Highschool in May of 76.

He then enlisted in the army June of 76; where he was medically discharged in Dec of 76.

Allen worked in the oil fields in Nebraska, he also was a heavy machine operator and drove tuck he worked as a maintenance man for Colfax terrace apartments and worked for public storage for 14 years.

Allen was a devout Christian, his faith played an instrumental part in his life, and he drew his strength from the lord. His favorite thing to say was the Lord never lets us down.

Allen enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, being outdoors, and listening to music. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, son, and brother. He was always baking something sweet and loved to share what he had baked with not only his family but friends, and neighbors especially neighborhood children.

He had an infectious spirit that was full of light even being sick, you couldn’t help but being drawn to him. He loved telling stories about life and the things he had done and hated for anyone to be sad or upset. He would always try to make you laugh with his jokes or just by being onery, or always being willing to listen to you. It was hard to be upset around him. He just always had this way of loving you into being happy, he really genuinely cared for the people around him, and will be missed by all that were involved in his life

Allen is survived by: His father James (Donna) Wertz. His first wife Mitzi Knaub, third wife Lisa Wertz Iles. Brother’s Alvin Wertz, Wayne (Sondra) Wertz. Sisters Sharlene Drake, Michelle (Doug) Barrett. Daughter’s Heather (MIke) Pittenger, Yvonne Robinson, Sharisse (Richard) Nessbitt, Carrie (Paul) Stejskal. Son Justin Wertz, SIL Kevin Hinzman. Grandchildren Nancy Hinzman, Katrina Hinzman, Anna Massie, Brian Martin, Fayth (Ricky) Martin, Grayce (Quinten) Linot, Ashley Massie, Tyler Massie, Abby Massie, Brayden Robinson, Hope Pfeiffer, Fenyx Nesbitt. 3 Great grandchildren, 4 Nephews, and 3 nieces.

Allen is preceded in death by: Mother Janeice Wertz, 2nd wife Cherie Thompson, and Son Brandon Wertz

A memorial service will be held Feb 3rd, 2024 at 11:30 am, Potluck reception to follow please bring a dish to share.

Service and reception at Red Rocks Fellowship 11195 W. Belleview Ave., Littleton, CO 80127.

In lieu of flowers he would have loved if you would donate to feed the children at Compassion International.
