Bary Lee Blakkolb grew up in San Bernardino, California. He was married to Marlene since June 1961. They moved to Texas in 1983, moving to the Dallas area with their children from Southern California via the Chicago area.
When they were living in the Dallas area, Bary and Marlene became avid golfers for many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had many fond memories and always enjoyed the many happy times spent together with his family over the years. He and Marlene were blessed with numerous vacation trips to Hawaii (their favorite getaway location) and to Disney World. They also did extensive traveling through the Southern, Central and Western parts of the country; many times playing numerous golf courses along the way.
Bary's entire 45 year business career was in the food industry. It included both retail store operations (10 years) and direct food sales (35 years). He held various sales management positions with the Best Foods Co. in Southern California, Illinois, and Texas. Long after Barry retired, he and Marlene moved into a new home in Castle Rock, Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene.
Survivors include his son, Brent and his wife, Lori Blakkolb of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; daughter, Paula and her husband, Steve Meadows of Pflugerville, Texas; twin granddaughters, Kayla and Hannah Meadows and brother, Dennis Blakkolb of Palm Springs, California.
Bary was one of the initial members of Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas for over 20 years. He served SUMC over the years handling many different tasks and responsibilities, which included helping build Habitat For Humanity houses. Here in Castle Rock, Bary was member of the Grace Chapel Church and attended numerous other churches in the area.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 4:30pm at Grace Chapel Castle Rock, 935 Evalena Road, Castle Rock, Colorado 80108. For family and friends unable to attend the service in person, you may attend via live-stream at the following link (will start streaming at 4:30pm MST):
