While earning her bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware, Betty Jo met the love of her life, Karl J Manz. The two were married 43 years, during which they embarked on a journey filled with lots of love and laughter, raising their two children, Elizabeth and Karl, gardening, spending endless days skiing throughout New England and enjoying the sun and surf at the Jersey Shore.
In her professional life, Betty Jo thrived in Mary Kay cosmetics, where she empowered women, helping them recognize their beauty inside and out. Her pink Cadillac was often seen cruising through town, a reflection of her vibrant personality.
Betty Jo found immense joy in spending time at the Jersey Shore, hosting friends and family with open arms and a welcoming heart. Her home was always filled with the sounds of laughter and aroma of meatballs and sausage, ready to greet visitors at any hour. When not soaking up the sun on the beach, she could be found pedaling along the boardwalk on her beloved pink Schwinn cruiser bike.
As a devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren, JoJo, as she was affectionately known, cherished every moment spent swimming, baking Christmas cookies, cuddling, and playing in the snow. An avid skier, she delighted in racing her family to the base of the mountain.
Despite her recent battle with Alzheimer's, Betty Jo’s strong spirit remained unwavering. She found comfort in her Christian faith, a source of strength throughout her life. Betty Jo was a shining light of love and joy, embodying the warmth of the sun she adored.
She is survived by her husband, Karl, her children, Elizabeth (Shane) and Karl (Katherine), her cherished grandchildren, Eleanor, Arthur and Lennox, and many friends and family who will miss her deeply.
