Carol Kretschmar Yaw

On Tuesday March 7, 2023, Carol Kretschmar Yaw passed away after a very brief illness with RSV and pneumonia. She was a cherished daughter, caring sister, beloved wife, dedicated mother, and friend to all who had the opportunity to know her.

Carol was born in Detroit Michigan in 1933 to Fred and Lenore Kretschmar and grew up in Grosse Pointe, MI. She lived in Bloomfield Hills, MI for 58 years and in 2017 moved to Highlands Ranch, CO to be closer to her children and their families.

She graduated from Michigan State University with a teaching degree and was an Alpha Phi sorority member. She married William R. Yaw Jr at St. Hugo of the Hills Church in 1957. They moved to their Hickory Heights home in MI, and raised their four children with the love and support of their neighbors, who grew into lifelong friends.

Carol loved to travel with Bill to the warm Caribbean and the cold Snowmass Ski Resort but she was happiest when she was with family and friends, where ever that may be. They both held family close in their hearts. Celebrating the holidays with the entire family became a tradition she treasured.

She was so proud of her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The time she was able to spend with her children and her children’s children was so important to her. She knew that life was short and appreciated watching them grow up.

She is survived by her children Martha Yaw Kliebert (Lee), William R. Yaw III “Skip” (Peggy), C. Kathleen “Kathy” Yaw Lawn (Ed), and Mark Yaw (Amy), grandchildren Adam Kliebert (Jessica), Brian Kliebert, Wylie Yaw, Paige Yaw, Keaton Yaw, Taylor Yaw LyVere (Codey), Nick Yaw, Keeley Yaw, and great-grandchildren Jude and Lyle Kliebert.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, Bill and her twin sisters Franny Merrill and Letty Fiscus.

In lieu of flowers please remember Carol and Bill often, smile at a fond memory, and let them know you are thinking of them.

Carol’s interment will be with Bill in Michigan at a later date.
