Cheryl Landefeld, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2023. She was 74 years old.
Cheryl was born on October 7, 1948, in Berwyn, Illinois to John and Theresa (Meyer) Visser. Her father passed away 2 years later from colon cancer leaving her mother to raise Cheryl and her 2 sisters, Betty and Joan. Cheryl was raised in Cicero, Illinois and attended Timothy Christian High School. She and her family enjoyed spending summers with family at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. This is where she met her future husband, John. Cheryl and John married on July 1, 1972 at Lake Geneva where they had first met. They moved to Wichita, Kansas for John's work and eventually landed in San Diego, CA for John's graduate school. This is where they raised their 3 daughters, Kirstin, Kelly, and Traci. Life eventually landed them in Littleton, Colorado where Cheryl spent her career as an Early Childhood teacher and impacted many young lives in Englewood, Colorado.
Cheryl was a devoted follower of Christ, and shined His light on everyone she met. Cheryl never met a stranger, only a future friend. She would easily strike up a conversation with whomever was near and give her little pearls of wisdom accentuated by her contagious laugh. Cheryl was also a devoted mother and grandmother. She cherished her family and made sure everyone was treated equal. She will be ever present in our hearts and guide us through our lives, until we meet again.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and John, her sister, Joan, and her son-in-law, Jason. She leaves behind her loving family, including husband, John, sister, Betty, daughters, Kirstin, Kelly, and Traci, son-in-laws Todd and Sean, and grandchildren Connor, Kaden, Jax, Cody, Courtney, Henry, and Benjamin.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Grace Presbyterian Church located at 9720 US Highway 85 N, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80125. There will be a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is kindly asking for donations to be made in Cheryl's name to the Colon Cancer Coalition or American Heart Association.
