David Matthew Maes, 42, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on September 4, 2024. Born on January 13, 1982, David was the beloved son of David and Diane Maes. He spent his life in Colorado, where he attended Lincoln High School and forged countless friendships with his unique blend of humor and wisdom.
A true jack of all trades, David’s intelligence and insight were unmatched. Whether it was home renovation, cars, or life’s bigger questions, David had a remarkable ability to speak with authority on any subject. His friends and family often marveled at his knowledge and loved hearing his thoughtful, wise takes on just about everything. As a general contractor, he applied this wisdom to his work, transforming homes with his creative vision and expert craftsmanship. His second home was Home Depot, where he was always on the hunt for the perfect materials to bring his ideas to life.
David was first and foremost a devoted father to his 19-year-old son, David Maes. They shared an unbreakable bond, and David was always there to guide him with his wisdom and love. Though he was never married, Jacqueline was the love of his life, and they shared a deep connection that stayed with him throughout his life.
When he wasn’t working, David found joy in the simple things that fueled his spirit. He was a huge fan of spooky shows, documentaries and reality TV, often surprising people with just how much he knew about even the most obscure topics. Music filled his days, bringing energy and inspiration to his life. He had a deep passion for cars, which he cared for with meticulous attention, and loved cruising around town. David also enjoyed traveling whenever he could, always eager to explore new places and learn more about the world. His French bulldog, Mochi, was his constant companion and the perfect sidekick for all his adventures.
David is survived by his son, David; his parents, David and Diane Maes; his brothers, Steve, Jeff and Daniel; his brother-in-law, Rufino; his sister, Rena; and his sister in Law, Cynthia. He also leaves behind a large, loving extended family, including his maternal grandparents, Paul and Sue Garcia, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever remember his generosity, humor, and wit.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Dixon Chapel at Cherry Hills Community Church, 3908 Grace Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.
