Frances "Fran" Lane

Frances "Fran" Lane, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7th at noon, at Life Care Center of Littleton Nursing Home. 

She was born February 22, 1944, to John and Mary (Herschfeldt) Devie. Fran was a 1961 graduate of Crook County High School. She married to Joseph "Henry" Lane on 08/17/1966 in Sterling, Colorado where they met. 

Fran worked full-time as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant at Carey Jr. High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming for 35 years and part-time at a before and after school respite program for children. During the summer she cleaned rooms at the Holiday Inn.

She had a true passion for helping and educating children of all ages and rarely sat still. She was kind, but firm. Her smile was contagious and her demeanor very awnry. She enjoyed cleaning and feeding people. Her work ethic was beyond any I've seen. Even in her later years at the nursing home, she would always check in on residents to see if they were ok and try to comfort them.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and her zest for life.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Devie, and her husband, Joseph "Henry" Lane. She is survived by her son, Kevin Lane; daughter, Rhonda Gibb; daughter-in-law, Tabitha Lane; son-in-law, Joe Gibb; grandchildren, Kyle Gibb, Corey (Lauren) Lane and Garrett (Kenzie) Lane; brothers, Dick, Bill and Jim and sisters, Irene, Lorraine and Vona. 

Being the kind and compassionate person she was, Fran asks in lieu of flowers, please smile at a stranger or brighten someone's day whenever you can; the world needs so much more love. 

Fran’s family will be holding a Celebration of Life Service at Heflebower Funeral Sevices, 8955 S. Ridgeline Blvd, Suite 100 (SW corner) Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80129, on Friday, June 21st from 1-2 pm, with a late lunch after.
