Freya Lou Broyles

Freya Lou Broyles (Vratny/Oakes), 81, of Denver, Colorado, died April 2, 2024.

Freya was born in Lamar, Colorado in 1942 to Jake & Mary Alice Broyles. She was the oldest of four children. Freya graduated from Lamar Union High School in 1960. Over the next decade she pursued and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting while raising two children. Throughout her life Freya spent time living in Lamar, Steamboat Springs, the Denver Metro area, and Tucson, AZ. Freya was a good friend to many and could always be counted on for support during difficult times.

Freya was preceded in death by her parents, Jake & Mary Alice Broyles, and her sister, Marguerite Broyles. She is survived by her brothers Bill (Karen) Broyles and Jake (Tracie) Broyles, her children Lisa (Damon) Vratny-Smith and Jef (Cheryl) Vratny, her grandchildren Langston Smith, Ellington Smith, and India Vratny, nieces and nephews Kim Tempel, Jonas Tempel, Gina (Jeff) Lane, Sarah (David) Nettles, and Zach (Jen) Broyles, many great nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family. An additional Informal Memorial Gathering and scattering of ashes will be held at Amache Studio on the family farm in Lamar, Colorado, 30785 Cty Rd 34.5, on Sunday April 14, 2024 from 12-2pm. Please feel free to drop by to pay your respects and visit with the family. Scattering of ashes will take place at 1:45 at a different location on the farm.
