Gemma Hadassah Oliver

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gemma Hadassah Oliver, our beloved child, who left this world on June 2, 2024 at the tender age of 21 months. Gemma was a bright light in our lives, bringing joy, laughter, and love to all who knew her. 

Gemma was born on August 14, 2022 to Nicole and Jason Oliver in Littleton, CO. From the moment she entered the world, Gemma changed our lives. She filled everyone’s lives with immeasurable happiness and taught us the true meaning of strength. A few hours after her birth, an incredible nurse noticed Gemma was having seizures which started us on her long medical journey. She soon received a diagnosis of a rare SCN2A gene mutation. 

Despite the challenges posed by her gene mutation, Gemma faced each day with remarkable strength, resilience, and spirit that inspired everyone around them. Her courage and determination were a testament to her incredible soul and she will forever be etched in our hearts.

Gemma had a special bond with her big sister Beverly, her dogs Carter and Gordie, and her therapists that visited our home each day. She made an impact on the nurses and doctors that cared for her. Gemma and Jewel, her daytime caregiver, had a very special connection. They enjoyed bath time with a special song playlist, picking out cute outfits and new hair do’s, going outside and having bugs land on her, and all the cuddles in the world. Gemma loved being held by her grandparents and self-appointed aunties that visited from Texas.

We will forever cherish the everyday moments we shared with Gemma: watching hockey and RuPaul’s drag race together, listening to Beverly make up songs to sing to her and holding her, and getting startled by Gordie and Carter playing nearby.

A celebration of Gemma’s life and shiva will be held on Saturday, June 15th at 11:00 AM MT at the Kutner Residence, 871 Uinta Way, Denver, CO 80230. We invite all who loved Gemma to join us in honoring her beautiful life and the joy she brought to so many of us. Please wear comfy clothing with happy colors to celebrate our little girl. 

Our Gemma is now with Rivka and Clark, exploring this world and universe together.
