Gloria entered the presence of her risen Lord and Savior 14 days after experiencing a debilitating stroke. She was born October 26, 1936 in Washington, D.C., but grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She was the first child born to Charles and Mary Baber. Her siblings followed: Billy, Jimmy, George, Brad, and Dawn. She graduated from George Washington High School, where weatherman Willard Scott was a classmate. Her first job was that of a secretary for the Blue Angels.
Gloria met her husband Jim (Rev. Dr. Jim Dyet) at Moody Bible Institute in 1955, and the two married June 7, 1958. Together, they served congregations in Ontario, New York State, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Colorado. For many years, Gloria worked part time in retail sales, including Joslin’s at Southwest Plaza in Lakewood. Everyone who knew Gloria recalls her radiant smile and keen sense of humor. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Sherrie Escue (husband Jim); Heather Whiting (husband Brad), a son, Brian; granddaughters Jessica Fast (husband Michael) and Kayla Knoll (husband David); and a great granddaughter, Ella Fast.
This family of believers will see Gloria again. Their temporary loss is heaven’s eternal gain!
