George was born in Binghamton, New York in 1925 to Matthew and Stella Schneider. He spent his school days surrounded by good friends, breaking records on the tennis court and leading his senior class. Upon graduation from high school, he entered the U.S. Navy and served as a communications officer in the Pacific theater. After the war George attended Hobart College in Upstate New York, graduating with a degree in Economics. Captivated by the deep blue sky and Flatirons in Boulder, he traveled west to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado School of Law. After a brief stint in the FBI, George entered the oil and gas industry working in legal, land, and exploration activities until his retirement in 1991.
George loved his family, friends, the state of Colorado, playing golf, and most of all his greatest love, Gini, his wife of 69 years. They married in 1954 and raised their three daughters in Denver surrounded by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to family and friends.
The family joy expanded as he and Gini welcomed nine grandchildren. The group delighted in filling the family basement with costume parties on Halloween, Christmas gatherings, and card parties. Treasured times in the mountains made for great vacation memories. A variety of activities including ladder ball, horseshoes, and charades kept the family entertained.
As patriarch of the family, George passed down the Schneider code to his kids and grandkids alike: treat others with kindness and respect, walk in humility, and look out for the little guy. The glass was always half full for George and that’s a lesson for all of us to embrace.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Stella, his sister Katie, and his brother Fred. He is survived by his wife Gini, three daughters Ann Budrow (David), Beth Zoellner (Craig), Kate Flora (Erick), nine grandchildren, Casey, Andy, Taylor, Molly, Spencer, Matthew, Nick, Sadie, and Liza, and 3 great grandsons.
Please join George’s family at a Funeral Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, January 26th at 10 AM as we celebrate his life.
