Honorio 'Norie' Gonzales

It is with heavy hearts that we share Honorio Gonzales, 94, passed on February 21, 2024, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado surrounded by his loving family. Affectionately known as Norie, he was born on December 30, 1929, in Silang, Cavite Philippines to Vicente and Camila Gonzales. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Erlinda Tolentino; their five children, Linnore, Vincent, Michelle, Rodell, and Cathy; five grandchildren, Kevin, Cassandra, Ethan, Matthew, and Veronica; and beloved extended family members and long-time friends.

Norie attended high school at the Infant Jesus Academy and was part of its first graduating class. After growing up in Silang, he moved to Manila and earned his degree in accounting from the University of Santo Tomas. A hard worker who was dedicated to the wellbeing of his family, he was an Accountant for The Maritime Shipping Company for 30 years prior to immigrating to the United States where he worked in the Accounting Department of the Federated Stores in New York City.

Norie deeply loved his family and his home. One of Norie’s favorite stories to tell was how one day, on his way home from church, he decided to take a different route. As he was walking, he saw a young girl looking out of a window. At that moment, he knew that girl, Erlinda, was his sweetheart for life. Norie and Erlinda married on March 18, 1961.

The jokester of the family, Norie brought his endearing sense of humor into every room, where he was often the life of the party. He always had funny stories and witty nicknames for everyone around him. Norie made room for the small joys of life. He loved listening to music and dancing, especially with Erlinda as his partner. He was a tennis player and lifelong fan of the sport. He took immense pride in keeping his cherished Camry clean and maintained.

Norie was a devout Catholic who received comfort from his faith throughout his life. Viewing Services will be held on Tuesday, February 27th at Heflebower Funeral Services (8955 S. Ridgeline Blvd. Suite 100, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129) from 4 pm – 8 pm. A mass to honor and celebrate Norie will be held on Wednesday, February 28th at St. Mark Catholic Church (9905 Foothills Canyon Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129) at 10:30 am. Family and friends are warmly invited.
