James “Jim” William Edwards of Loveland, Colorado passed away from complications related to Covid-19 on October 5th 2021.
He is survived by his children James Richard Edwards and Elizabeth Michelle Edwards, step-daughter Maria Michelle Cox, siblings Bruce Edwards and Suzanne Landtroop, and grandchildren Katelin, Maren, Ella, Jessica, Rachel, and Aidan.
Jim was born in Youngstown Ohio, February 28, 1947 to James Robert Edwards and Carol Barnett Edwards. The family moved to Denver when he was 12. While attending South High School, Jim grew passionate about tennis, playing and practicing at Washington Park and his hard work earned him a tennis scholarship at the University of Denver. While attending DU, he became the first tennis pro at Crestmoor Swimming and Tennis Club.
He graduated DU with a Bachelor of Business degree in 1969 and began his career in banking. His career spanned many banking and financial responsibilities including CFO for large private and nonprofit organizations.
Jim was an avid golfer and fisherman as well, competitive and tenacious at everything.
He married Arlouene Marie Van Horn “Arlo” on May 15, 1982 and shared in her passion for the Church and family. They shared in bringing the gospel to people of all ages and were especially devoted to the programs of Galilee Baptist Church in Loveland, CO. They were especially proud of the Awana programs they co-directed and after Arlo’s passing in 2016, Jim carried on.
