Castle Rock – Mrs. Joan Kay Vibber, 77, wife of the late Dr. Larry Vibber entered into rest after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, October 20 2013 in Castle Rock, CO. Born in Denver, CO on November 16, 1935, Joan was the daughter of the late Eddie (Eldon) and Lillian (Cole) Druley. Joan attended and graduated from Colorado Teachers College (University of Northern Colorado) where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree, Teaching Certificate and also met her future husband of over 50 years, Larry Vibber. Joan was a dedicated High School educator for over 40 years in the Fowler District where she taught Physical Education, Social Studies and was later appointed as the head Librarian and Media Specialist. In addition to her academic duties at Fowler High School, Mrs. Vibber was an early pioneer in high school women’s athletics where she coached Gymnastics and Track and Field teams while also proudly serving for many years as the Senior Class sponsor. Joan’s noted hobbies and interest over the many years included world travel, politics, pets, Trinity Lutheran Church activities and gardening where she earned the distinction of being named an accomplished Master Gardener.Surviving children include Leslie Clemensen (Chris), Parker, CO; Greg Vibber (Elora), Blythewood, SC; foster daughter Denise Oxley (Derek), Holts Summit, MO; grandchildren, Lindsey and Rachel Clemensen, Alex Vibber and James, Michael, and Evan Oxley. Her brother Bob and granddaughter Meredith Clemensen also preceded her in death.Funeral services will be held Saturday October 26, 2013, 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fowler with the burial at the Littleton, CO Cemetery on Monday October 28th at 11:00 AM. The family wishes to thank the many people, not only in Fowler but also in the Castle Rock area, for their kind words and gestures during their mother’s lengthy battle with cancer.
