John Peter Gillen

John P Gillen, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his home in Centennial, Colorado. He was born December 2, 1954, in Charleston, South Carolina, to John & June Gillen. 

John spent most of his childhood in Little Rock, Arkansas where he met his wife Debbie at Teletype. John and Debbie had 2 kids, Jessica & John. The family transferred with AT&T to Denver, Colorado in 1992, where he raised his 2 kids in Centennial. John had 5 grandkids and loved spending time with them. He was very proud of his grandkids and enjoyed watching their games and celebrating their milestones. 

John also enjoyed playing golf with friends and poker with his buddies at their weekly games. He was an excellent golfer as well as a very astute poker player. 

John was preceded in death by his father John F Gillen, his mother June L Gillen, and his wife Debra H Gillen. He is survived by his brother Keith Gillen, his children Jessica Bowlen & John Gillen, his grandkids AJ, Brady, Kaleigh, Memphis, and Sky, several Aunts & Uncles, many friends and his cat Chuck. 

John asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Bridges for Peace. 

John’s family will be holding a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 1-2pm at Heflebower Funeral Services, 8955 South Ridgeline Boulevard (Suite 100 - SW corner), Highlands Ranch, 80129.
