Joseph G. Tartler, Jr

Joe was born on July 27th, 1953 in Wheeling, West Virginia and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1971. After High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs where he graduated first in his class and met his beloved wife, Jayne. Jayne and Joe married in 1976. They moved to Ohio where Joe worked in the coal mines and attended Ohio State University. He and Jayne then moved to Greeley, Colorado where he graduated with honors from The University of Northern Colorado with an Accounting/Economics degree. During that time their first son Ty was born. Upon graduation, they moved to Denver where he got a job at a big ten firm, Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) and welcomed their second son, Seth. Joe went on the receive his CPA license and continued working as an Accountant/Controller of oil and gas companies. Jayne and Joe decided to settle in Highlands Ranch where they welcomed their third son, Josh.

Joe was a devoted father and loving husband. He loved raising his sons and spoiling Jayne. He coached the boys’ youth baseball and football teams to countless championships. Jayne always had fresh flowers for every occasion and dinner was prepared for her many of nights. He instilled life lessons to his boys through team sports and hard work. He taught them what mattered was in your heart, strive for excellence but be a simple man. Joe always seemed to excel and go above and beyond in everything he did. His teasing nature and humor lit up the room and captured the hearts of children.

Joe never lost sight of his roots and was proud to say he was from the Ohio Valley, Barton, Ohio. Joe was a very loving, kind and generous man. His family was his priority, but friends were a close second. He touched the lives of many and gave so much to others. He made people laugh, smile and love life. He will be greatly missed, as life was a whole lot brighter when Joe was around. Jayne would tell you; he would walk into a room of 100 people, and he would know everyone’s name by the time he left. He enjoyed a nice dinner with friends, rather it be in his backyard or a restaurant.

Joe retired in 2020 but decided the idle mind was not for him. He went back to work as a consultant and worked full time up until two weeks before passing. His hobbies consisted of golfing, sporting events, concerts with his sons and pals, gardening, cooking, road trips with Jayne and he was a music enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife Jayne, son Ty (Amanda), son Josh (Brittany), daughter-in-law Kelly, two grandsons Ryker and Huxley and a new granddaughter any day. His sisters Leslie Wildman (Ron), Becky Reeves (Doug), as well as many nieces and nephews, whom he cherished. He was preceded in death by his son Seth.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 9, 2025 at St. Andrews Church, 9203 S University Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 10:00-11:00 am at the church.  Burial with military honors will be held at Seven Stones immediately following the service, 9635 N Rampart Range Rd, Littleton, CO 80125. Reception will be held from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm at Lone Tree Country Club, 9808 Sunningdale Blvd, Lone Tree, CO 80124. All are welcome, please join us to celebrate the life of the amazing man, Joseph Gerald Tartler Jr.
