Julie R. Dobo, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away from brain cancer on August 17, 2016 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She was born Julie Rosanne Cherno on December 28, 1957 in Bakersfield, California to Melvin and Dolores Cherno. She grew up in Rochester, Michigan and attended Rochester Adams High School and the University of Michigan, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. After graduation, Julie moved to the Los Angeles area, where she worked at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica and Long Beach Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse and was involved in the early computerization of hospital records. Julie married Randy Dobo on September 3, 1988 in Long Beach. She was devoted to their children, Amy (Matt) Swink of Frederick, Colorado and Sarah Dobo of Fort Collins, Colorado. Julie is survived by her husband, of Highlands Ranch; her parents, of Highlands Ranch; her children; sister Paige (Jim) Owens of Avon Lake, Ohio; brother Steve Cherno of Ladera Ranch, California; and four nieces, Laurel Owens, Kerry Owens, Paige Anderson and Haley Anderson.
Full of light and love, Julie was known for her smile and infectious laugh. She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family. Julie was particularly interested in politics, the history of the sinking of the Titanic, the mystery of Amelia Earhart’s disappearance, Detroit Tigers baseball and University of Michigan football.
Julie’s ashes will be interred at Seven Stones Chatfield Cemetery, in front of an engraved boulder for two, next to a stream. Given Julie’s love of water features, that will be a perfect place for her. There will be a celebration of life for Julie, probably in 2017.
