Karen Jean Notter Burroughs, 69, was born in Los Angeles, CA, on April 21, 1953. Her parents were Fred and Carole Notter. She grew up in California and later lived in Utah, Wyoming, and Florida, before moving to Colorado in 2013. She passed away peacefully on November 27, 2022, in Highlands Ranch, CO, surrounded by her four children and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of twenty three years, Jim Burroughs, whom she married in Rawlins, WY, in 1988. Karen and Jim had lived in Jacksonville, FL.
She is survived by her children Tina Marie Byerley of Garberville, CA, Sherri Dawn Scudder and spouse, Darren, of Littleton, CO, Heather Rae Karpf and spouse, Donald, of Jacksonville, FL, and David Joe Humphries of LaCrosse, WI, and step-son Chris Burroughs of Green River, WY and his children, David, Natasha, Sarah and Mary. She is also survived by grandchildren Brittany Jean Byerley and spouse Bret Wagner, Matthew Logan Bartleson, Cody James Karpf, Brianna Taylor Karpf, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Scudder, Abbigail Hope Karpf, Aiden Richard Scudder, and Gracie Rose Karpf, and great-grandchildren, Mikael Richard Byerley Wagner and Aliyah Brielle Strong. She is also survived by her brother, Chuck Notter and spouse, Denice, of Arcata, CA.
Karen’s hobbies included playing penny poker, puzzles, crochet, watching her favorite TV shows and family time.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for late spring in Jacksonville, FL where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Jim.
