Katherine L. Venters

August 18, 1956 — March 16, 2021

With her husband and children at her side, our sweet
Katherine passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at her
home in Evergreen, Colorado. Katherine was tender and
loving, forgiving, a caring mother, dog lover, strong with
no complaints, and the most loving, giving wife any man
could ask for.
Katherine’s spirit shined brightly and could light up a
room--often entering by announcing her arrival,
exclaiming, “♫ dun-da-da-dah! ♫”
She was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, by her
parents, Anthony and Laura Narwot. Spent time in
Houston, Texas, before finally arriving at her true home in
Evergreen, Colorado, in 2008. Katherine spent many
summers canoeing the rivers of Michigan and earned her
Gold Award in Girl Scouts.
Some of her fondest memories were made with her two
sons, Nick (Virginia) and Chris (Kim) Kosicki, especially
through their adventures in Boy Scouts. She felt fortunate
to meet her first granddaughter in October, Mae Lynn.
Mae brought Katherine immense joy over the last six
months.
One of the most rewarding and defining moments of her
life was completing the Wood Badge Program through
Boy Scouts. The tools she acquired during this advanced
leadership program stayed with her through the course of
her life.
She started working in the mortgage industry when she
was only 16 years old. In high school, she enjoyed doing
commercial art and did some projects for the Detroit Free
Press. As a young adult, Katherine joined the National
Association of Professional Mortgage Women, and was
elected President. The focus of this national organization
was to help people learn skills in the industry, provide
scholarships, and host seminars.
She most recently enjoyed her marketing position with
Trusan Catering in Evergreen, Colorado. Katherine was a
treasurer and trustee for the Evergreen Elks Lodge 2363.
She loved volunteering her time making sandwiches for
Fr. Woody’s Haven of Hope with the wonderful women
of Knights of Columbus Cor Mariae at Christ the King
Catholic Church, also in Evergreen.
She loved the time spent with her girlfriends on getaway
weekends and nights out playing Bunko at Tuscany
Tavern. She loved hiking, especially in Rocky Mountain
National Park.
In 2010, Katherine found the love of her life, Daniel
Venters, of Black Hawk, Colorado, and they married in
2012. Their combined families were a gift to Katherine,
including Dan’s children, Josh (Katy) Venters, Rebecca
(Shawn) Blondo, and Erin (Christopher) Biery. Daniel
and Katherine enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing,
volunteering, and growing in their Catholic faith
together. Katherine made her famous Galumpkis (Polish
stuffed cabbage rolls) for family dinners and enjoyed
listening to Dan and his brothers play their guitars on the
front porch afterwards.
She was our Wood Badge Warrior who valiantly fought
two separate battles with cancer. She loved life—and
loved everyone. She will be greatly missed, and lovingly
remembered.
