Katie B. Rocke

Katie B. Rocke, resident of Lakewood, CO, passed away on Monday morning, August 5, 2024. She was born December 18, 1946, in Port Sulphur, LA to Johnny and Ruby Brandt Burton. She attended grade school and graduated high school there then moved to Hammond, LA and graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a master’s degree in accounting. She married (divorced) and had 3 wonderful children, Steve, James (the favorite), and Ginger.

Katie went with friends on vacation in 1984 and fell in love with Colorado. She moved there in 1989. She loved to go hiking, camping and snowshoeing. She enjoyed taking her dogs for walks. She loved everything about the Colorado outdoors. In her younger days, she led hikes and went of several group camping trips to Utah, Nevada, and other places around Colorado.

Katie was also a Certified Public Accountant and owned her own business. She used her previous experience with the IRS to help her clients. She enjoyed being a self-employed CPA and her work. She worked right up to the end of her life.

Katie is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Ruby Key and Elaine Armstrong, and her oldest son Clinton Stephen (Steve) Raacke. She is survived by her brother David Burton (Judy), her sister Jean Burton (John), her son James Burton Raacke (Tammy), her awesome daughter Ginger Raacke McKinney (Jeff), grandchildren, Jacob Raacke, Sammy Raacke, Britney McKinney, Sarah McKinney, Lacy McKinney, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Katie did not want a service so her children will honor her wishes and set her free in the mountains of Colorado.
