Laura Lee Brinkley, 70, passed away on July 29, 2024, with her family by her side in Littleton, Colorado.
Born on November 30, 1953 to Lester and Ruth Pacey, Laura grew up in San Diego, California and graduated from Hoover High School in 1971. One of the first female telephone installers, Laura worked for Pacific Bell in San Diego throughout the 1970s. In 1974, Laura met Gordon Brinkley through mutual friends, and they enjoyed spending their weekends together; they were married in March 1975. Gordon and Laura moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1994 when Gordon’s job transferred him out of California, where they focused on establishing roots together in Colorado. Laura began working for MER in 1999, where she formed strong friendships and a second family with coworkers she fondly called her “homies.” Laura loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and was very active with her Church community, both in California and in Colorado.
Known for her quick wit and dry, light-hearted sense of humor, Laura was a joy to everyone who knew her. As the mother of four children, Laura was the matriarch of the family, and had strong relationships with her grown children, speaking to each of them on a very regular basis. She loved hearing about her kids’ daily lives, and was always the one to share updates amongst the family.
Laura enjoyed road trips with her husband and traveling with her family; tending to her seasonal flowers; spending time spoiling and entertaining her four grandkids; loved animals (including her “grandanimals” that consisted of dogs, rescue pigs, horses, and many more); and also cherished time with her close friends on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Laura is survived by her husband, Gordon; her brother, Oscar Pacey; daughter Kristine Burdick (Jon) and two grandsons, Leland and Sam; son Josh Brinkley (Katie) and two granddaughters Evelyn and Vivian; daughter Erin Brinkley-Burgardt (Andrew); son Brandon Brinkley (Charlotte); and her beloved companion, Sparky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Ruth.
Laura was laid to rest at Seven Stones Chatfield Botanical Cemetery, 9635 N Rampart Range Road, Littleton, CO 80125.
