Linda Read, 72, of Parker CO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Linda was born May 11, 1951, to Jack Henry and Estelle Rosenfield in Houston, Texas. After Linda graduated from Westbury High School in 1969, she went on to study at North Texas State University, where she met the love of her life, Roger Read. Linda experienced major health challenges but was determined to pursue her advanced education. She and Roger both transferred to the University of Houston.
After graduating from the University of Houston she obtained an additional professional degree as a Medical Technologist from Ben Taub Hospital. In 1976, Linda and Roger moved to Colorado, where they found their forever home. Linda started her first job at Rose Medical Center in Colorado, kickstarting a 38-year career in the Chemistry Lab and completing it as a Supervisor of the department.
Linda and Roger went on to have one child, Sarah. Their family enjoyed caring for many additional 4-legged-furry, finned, and feathered family members, all of whom held very special places in their hearts.
Linda loved music, movies, art, fashion, science, and spending time with her sisters, family, and friends.
Following health issues, Linda retired earlier than she would have preferred, but it gave her other opportunities in life that she would not have been afforded. She was able to spend more time with her family and friends as well as volunteering for the National Kidney Foundation as a mentor. She loved helping people in any way that she could, whether it was a thoughtful gift to brighten someone’s day or a conversation and a listening ear.
Linda was outgoing, charismatic, loved to talk, and did NOT like to sit still or stay at home. If you ever needed a friend to chat or go out with – call Linda. She loved supporting those around her, and nothing more than her two grandchildren. To her closest people Linda was known as Gigi. She relished the responsibilities of being a grandmother and nothing shined brighter than her when around or talking about her grandkids.
Linda/Gigi will be forever missed. She was the sparkle in the room.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Jack Henry and Estelle Rosenfield. She is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughter, Sarah; her grandchildren; her three sisters, Gail, Debbie, and Katherine; and niece and nephew.
Last, Linda would want to thank every person that came into her life for listening, caring, supporting, laughing with, and loving her; for helping her in her opportunity to live, work, raise a beautiful family, and participate in so many wonderful things.
Linda’s Family will be holding a Celebration of Life Service at a later date and time.
