Lynn DeFoeldvar

April 4, 1939 — March 26, 2021

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lynn DeFoeldvar was born on April 4, 1939 to Marion “Pete” & Helen Hopkins in Wichita Falls, TX. She had one sister, Norma Carol Brehm and two brothers, Dennis Hopkins & Marion Hopkins Jr. She had three children Kelly, James and Tracy from her first marriage. 10 years after her divorce, she met and married the love of her life, Zeno DeFoeldvar, in 1972. Zeno and her traveled all over the world and had many adventures in the short time they were together. Unfortunately, he preceded her in death, due to an accident in 1981. Eight months later her granddaughter, Kera, was born and would become the new love in her life. During Lynn’s life she became a published poet and award-winning artist, all the while sharing her passion for the arts with her granddaughter and all the people around her. 20 years after her granddaughter was born, her oldest great-grandson, Zeno, was born. Then, 2-1/2 years later her only great-granddaughter, Kubera, made her appearance in the world. 2-1/2 years after that her great-grandson, Angel, was born.

Lynn moved to Colorado in 2008 from Wichita Falls, Tx to be closer to her daughters. Her oldest daughter, Kelly, lost her fight with cancer in 2014. Which broke Lynn’s heart, to outlive her child. However, Tracy and James were still there for her and to help keep her going. Her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kera and Will, moved to Colorado with her great-grandchildren to be closer and help Tracy with taking care of her in 2016. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2019. Lynn went through chemo & radiation treatments until she couldn't anymore. In September 2020, she was given 6mo to a year to live. Tracy and Kera brought her home to live with them and the great-grandkids just before Thanksgiving 2020. James was able to spend that Thanksgiving with her one last time. Unfortunately, March 26, 2021 she lost her fight with cancer. Lynn passed peacefully at the Lutheran Collier Hospice Center in Wheatridge, CO.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Marion “Pete” & Helen Hopkins. Her Brothers Dennis Hopkins & Marion Hopkins Jr and her oldest Daughter, Kelly Rodgers Banks. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Norma Carol and Jim Brehm, her sister-in-law, Patty Hopkins, her son, James V Smith III and youngest daughter, Tracy Smith. As well as, her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kera and Will Whittaker. Also, her great-grandchildren, Zeno Patton, Kubera Patton & Angel Haasch. Lynn also is survived by her many loved and cherished, nieces, nephews and cousins.

To celebrate her life and the amazing art, color and inspiring words she brought to her family and loved ones, Lynn was flown from Denver, CO to Fort Sill Post Cemetery in Lawton, OK. Her service was held at 1pm with the Base Chaplin officiating. Her favorite song “Amazing Grace” (the Celtic women rendition) was played in her honor. Lynn was buried with the love of her life, Zeno on April 2, 2021. Now they are dancing, Lynn in red high heels.
