Margo B. Rhine

September 14, 1949 — February 12, 2022

Margo Beth (Morgan) Rhine, 72, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Anschutz Hospital in Aurora, CO of organ failure. She was born in Macomb, IL September 14, 1949 to parents Daniel Morton Morgan and Nellie Madaline (Welsh) Morgan and was a sister to Diana Rue (Morgan) Baird, Melanie Madaline Morgan, and Danielle “Danni” (Morgan) Hawley.

Margo is survived by husband Robert Alan Rhine, daughters Shelagh Michelle (Rhine) Switzer, Amy Elizabeth (Rhine) Faulkner, and Vanessa Rue Rhine, granddaughter Emilia Switzer, and grandsons Garrett Switzer and Jesse Faulkner.

Margo grew up in Grand Junction, CO and got her A.A. at Mesa State College. She met Bob in Philadelphia after college (he noticed her because she was pretty cute with her red hair and she liked him back since he visited weekly and brought groceries) and they married November 30, 1974. Since Bob was in the Air Force, they lived all over the world, including Yuba City, California; Wiesbaden, Germany; Denver, Colorado; Dayton, Ohio; Fairbanks, Alaska; Harrogate, England; and Bob retired in Fountain, Colorado in 1996 where they lived for the rest of Margo’s life. Margo was primarily a mom to their three daughters; teaching them that family is important, enjoy where you are currently living, and make the best of what you have.

Bob and Margo were very active in historical re-creation with the Society for Creative Anachronism, where they met many wonderful friends. Margo excelled at creating and sewing medieval costumes, winning awards for her work. Margo also loved her church family at Valley Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and joined various Bible study groups.

Margo loved reading medieval mysteries (she would often figure out “who done it” before the end) and gardening in her backyard with its stellar view of Pikes Peak. Her garden was a private oasis full of beautiful flowers and meaningful statuary. She never met a stranger and could talk to anyone, and had no problem sharing personal details of her family’s lives with someone she just met. Since cooking wasn’t her forte, she enjoyed dining out at restaurants, but would never turn down a home-cooked meal. She was warm and welcoming and loved everyone, but above all, she loved her family. Her love for, and pride in, her grandkids was evident every time she bragged about their genius to the checker at the store. She will be greatly missed.

Margo’s Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 11am at Valley Christian Church, 14555 Link Road Fountain, CO 80817. In addition, a Celebration of Life in Denver is being planned for June 2022.

She will be interred at the Rhine Family Cemetery in Eldorado, IL in summer 2022.
