Maria Socorro Martinez (Roybal) of Castle Rock, Colorado (formerly Albuquerque & Santa Fe, NM) passed away on the evening of Saturday, October 9, 2021 surrounded by close family. Socorro was a vibrant girl and lady who was admired and beloved by all who knew her. She was a Santa Fe High Demon graduate, cheerleader and went to Girl’s State. She then moved to California with her best friend, Barbara Yardman (Sattler) for a brief time prior to moving back to Santa Fe to marry her true love Paul Martinez, who preceded her in death. Socorro was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, godparent, aunt, cousin, and more. She lived a full life and was a devoted member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in California. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook and never hesitated to help out a family member and even had several nieces and nephews live with her family at various times. She spent her last several years in Colorado enjoying the beautiful scenery with family following the passing of her husband Paul. She is lovingly remembered and survived by two devoted daughters; Denise Parmeter (Jim) and Deborah Martinez, two devoted granddaughters; Dena Gunn (Jonathan) and Marisa Gonzalez (Isaac), and two (soon to be three) beautiful great grandchildren; Isaac Jr. and Isabella, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Rumalda, her husband Paul, and siblings; Louie Roybal, Molly Garrison, Lena Rougemont, Rachel Griego, Greg Roybal, Alicia Lujan, Fidel Roybal, Gene Roybal, Pete Roybal, and Piedad Lopez. Socorro was truly one of a kind and a beautiful soul that will be missed dearly every day. We love you to the moon and back!
