Marjorie Ann (McRoberts) Westhoff

Marjorie Ann (McRoberts) Westhoff, 90, of Centennial, CO passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon March 23, 2025, surrounded by family. A caring wife, devoted mother of three sons, grandmother of six and great grandmother of six, she will be remembered for her gentle spirit, loving presence and warm humor.

Marjorie (Marge) was born May 12, 1934 in Sturgis, SD. She was the second child and only daughter of Kenneth D. McRoberts of Woonsocket, SD and Ellen (Fardig) McRoberts of Fruitdale, SD. After moving to Rapid City, SD, she attended Wilson Elementary School and Rapid City High School, graduating in 1952. She went on to attend the University of Denver where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1956. While at DU, she served as President of the Association of Women Students and President of Phi Gamma Nu, a business sorority. In her senior year she was “tapped” to be in Mortar Board, an honor society recognizing outstanding academics, leadership and service.

Marjorie married William (Bill) Joseph Westhoff of Fort Morgan, CO on September 1, 1956, in Denver, CO. Bill was a career officer in the U. S. Army, serving in the Corps of Engineers. They had three sons: Mark, Dale and James. Bill’s military career had the young family moving all over the country and overseas, and included two hardship tours to Korea and Viet Nam during which Marjorie and the boys lived in Rapid City, SD.

In 1974, Bill was medically retired from the Army and the family moved to Fort Collins, CO, where Marjorie would reside for 39 years. In addition to raising the boys and sending them off to college, Marjorie cared for her husband until he moved to the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Cheyenne, WY. She drove to Cheyenne weekly to visit Bill and several times per year to Rapid City to visit her mother. During those years, Marjorie was a community volunteer, elementary school teacher’s aide and active member of Peace of Christ Lutheran Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed hiking, ice skating, playing her piano and traveling. Her visits to her grandchildren were always special occasions. In 2014, she moved to Holly Creek Senior Living Community in Centennial, CO.

Marjorie was predeceased by her father (1976), husband (1995), mother (1999) and brother (2019). She is survived by her three sons, her six grandchildren and her six great grandchildren.

A celebration of life and interment ceremony for immediate family will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, a charity close to Bill and Marge’s hearts.
