Norma Richards

Norma Lou (Guernsey) Richards, aged 88, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, after a courageous 26-year battle with dementia. Born on August 29, 1936, in Fresno, California, she spent her early years surrounded by the beauty of the Central Valley. She later settled in Sunnyvale, California, where she lived for 33 years. In 1962, she married John Richards, with whom she had three daughters, and divorced in 1976.

She was active in the Sunnyvale Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church for many years, raising her family until moving to Texas in 2003. She then resided in Lewisville, Texas, for four years before moving into an above-garage apartment with her daughter Sherri and family in Argyle, Texas, until late 2019. In Texas she also lived close to her daughter Cindy, building cherished memories and lifelong friendships at the Lewisville SDA Church. For the last 5 years, she lived in a memory care home in Littleton, Colorado, where she spent time with her daughter Kristi and family.

Following her high school education, Norma earned an associate degree in Bookkeeping from Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA. She was a dedicated and diligent professional, contributing her skills to various organizations throughout her career.

Norma was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. She loved hiking the trails of national and state parks in California and Texas, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors, and making gourmet meals at campsites.

Her spirit of tenacity and independence was evident in everything she did. She was also a talented quilter, known for making beautiful jeans quilts that she lovingly gifted to family and friends. Each quilt was a testament to her creativity and generosity, offering warmth and comfort to those who received them.

Norma is survived by her three daughters, Sherri Richards Peck (and Gregory), Cindy Richards Sherman (and Rodney), Kristi Richards Weber (and Karl), and her grandchildren, Sydney, Garrett, Brendan, and Ethan, along with numerous friends who will forever cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the owner and caregivers at Assisted Living on Broadway and Brighton Hospice in Littleton, Colorado, who provided exceptional care and support during the last months of her illness.

A Celebration of LIfe Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 3 pm (Central time) at the Lewisville Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 1471 W.
