Rose Christine Beck, 87 of Centennial, Colorado, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015.Private family services are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27 at Littleton Cemetery.Rose was born March 11, 1927 in Schenectady, New York to Hans G. and Amelia (Fleischer) Schmidt. She is survived by her husband Kenneth T. Beck and her Daughter and Son In Law; Tina and David Kerschen. From Tina, her daughter:Mom was, in my eyes, and extraordinary person. She was intelligent, intellectually honest and curious, passionate and compassionate, loving, exacting, practical, and generous. Even strangers noticed and commented on how close she and Dad still were after 65 years of marriage, and I will always be deeply grateful to have been her daughter. We know how she touched many other lives and how important her friends were to her as well.In addition to being a wife, mother, and “grandmother” to our birds, she volunteered her talents and energy as a Girl Scout leader, Big Sister organizer, tutor and program director at a high poverty elementary school, and guide at a nature center. She and Dad took great pleasure in traveling around the country in their Dolphin and with Elder Hostel, as well as talking nature walks to spot as many birds, ducks, and other wildlife as possible. She read widely, enjoyed classical music, and was always up for an exploratory conversation about theology, politics, history, literature, or the art of living in general. We thank everyone who was a part of Chris’s life and for celebrating the memory of someone so dear to us.
