Roslyn Aganoor
March 9, 1934 - May 5, 2024
“No eyes have seen, no ears have heard, no mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Cor 2:9
Roslyn Aganoor, age 90, lovingly called ‘Mumush’ (kitten), peacefully passed away at Someren Glen in Centennial Colorado on Sunday, May 5, 2024. In the days leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by close family and she passed away knowing she was dearly loved.
Roslyn was born March 9, 1934 in Isfahan, Iran to Sophia and Leo Aganoor, who preceded her in death. She was the youngest of the 3 daughters. Her sisters, Regina and Lena, who also preceded her in death in 2007 and 2012, respectively.
She attended school in Julfa, a large Armenian community within Isfahan, and there she learned 3 languages: Armenian, English and Persian (Farsi). At age 19, Roslyn and her parents moved to Sydney, Australia where they lived for 14 years. Then, in 1967, at age 33, Roslyn made a huge, life-changing decision to move to Flushing, New York where her sister and family were living.
She began working for Empire Mutual Insurance in Manhattan. Roslyn was promoted to Supervisor of the Cancellation Department where she served for many years. Although Roslyn never married, she cared for and nurtured her staff like a doting mom. She would bring thoughtful gifts for the children of the single moms. She was loved and well respected by those she worked with.
While working in Manhattan, Roslyn lived at a residential building for working women that was owned and managed by the Salvation Army. She loved the Salvation Army and the safe and friendly environment. There was no way she would miss the uplifting worship services on Sundays and Wednesday nights and she thoroughly enjoyed movie nights with her friends. She loved serving at, and donating to, the work of the Salvation Army.
Roslyn was a faithful member of the Armenian Church and the Armenian Relief Society which she supported and volunteered.
Roslyn has left a legacy of kindness, gentleness and compassion for her whole family, which includes her 2 nieces and a nephew and their families, Susan and Ray of Connecticut, Sofia and Marvin of Colorado, and Leo and Mary of Massachusetts, 7 grand nieces and nephews and their families, and 11 great grand nieces and nephews.
It is the sweetness of her spirit that stands out the most for all who knew her. She is greatly missed. Sadly, with her passing, some of life’s sweetness has left this world.
