Sandra "Sandy" Parker

Sandra "Sandy" Parker, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in Colorado. She was born on July 19, 1939, to Ralph and Lucille Flattum. Sandy married Charlie Parker on her 19th birthday, and they shared a loving marriage until Charlie's passing in 2016. Together, they raised four children.

While raising her family, Sandy was an active volunteer with the Red Cross and League of Women Voters. She also dedicated her time as a councilperson in Longmont, Colorado. At the age of 40, Sandy achieved a significant milestone by earning her degree in accounting, passing the CPA and professional auditor exams. This accomplishment led her to an exciting career as an auditor for IBM, where she traveled the world with Charlie by her side. Their journeys took them through Asia for three years and Europe for two years, along with vacations to nearly every corner of the globe.

Sandy was a beloved mother who exemplified independence, a love of nature and picnics, a passion for travel, and a remarkable competence in all her endeavors. In her last three years, she resided at Windcrest Senior Living, where she endeared herself to staff and friends with her kindness, sense of fun, and love for dancing.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie, and her eldest granddaughter, Kelley Bjella. She is survived by her four children: Mark Parker, Robin Caputo, Christine Kelly, and Cathy Lees; her sisters Ginger Willard and Linda Reed; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life service at Wind Crest Senior Living Community in Highland Ranch in the Red Rocks room, 3235 Mill Vista Rd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129  on August 16th, 2024 at 6 pm to honor Sandy's memory and the joy she brought into the lives of those who knew her.
