Scott Thomas Jankowski, age 56, passed away on November 1, 2024. Born June 19, 1968, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Scott grew up with a deep curiosity about the world and a passion for learning that guided his life. He was a proud 1986 graduate of Cedarburg High School in Cedarburg, Wisconsin and a 1991 graduate from UW-Madison Business School. After Business school, Scott's adventurous spirit led him to join the Peace Corps, where he served in Malawi, Africa. This experience sparked his love for teaching, nature, and immersing himself in different cultures, a passion that remained with him throughout his life.
Following his Peace Corps service, he pursued higher education and earned a master’s degree in mathematics from California State University, East Bay, in 2000. His professional career took him to Lockheed Martin, where he began developing and implementing satellite test operating languages. Scott was a valued member of the Lockheed Martin team, working at the company for 23 years. He loved tackling complex problems and pursuing his love for space.
Scott’s personal life was equally rich. During his travels, he met the love of his life, Wimala (Wi), in Bangkok, Thailand. After a whirlwind romance, the couple decided to marry each other after just four days of meeting. Their bond was immediate and deep, and Scott was wholly dedicated to Wi, always striving to ensure her happiness, well-being, and that she had everything she ever wanted. Over the years, Scott worked tirelessly to bring Wi’s son, Chedta, to the United States, and their family was finally complete when Chedta joined them in Colorado. In addition to Chadta, Scott and Wi were blessed with two more sons, Jogen, born in 2007, and Nadeem, born in 2009.
A devoted father, Scott was an ever-present figure in his children’s lives. He attended every sports event—track and cross-country meets, soccer, basketball, and baseball games, wrestling matches, and taekwondo and karate competitions. He was equally supportive of his children’s musical pursuits, attending every concert where Jogen played the violin and Nadeem performed on the drums and saxophone. Family meant the world to Scott, and he found joy in every moment spent with them.
In his free time, Scott had many hobbies. He was an avid music lover with a broad taste, and a devoted fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. He was also a lover of literature and a movie enthusiast, with a particular fondness for cartoons. A skilled woodworker, Scott enjoyed tackling home projects, often creating things with his hands. He also had a talent for cooking and especially enjoyed canning pickles, a family tradition he cherished and loved sharing with others (as long as they returned the jar)!
Scott had a unique perspective on religion and was proudly ordained in the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (Pastafarianism), reflecting his free-spirited and open-minded nature.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leocadia and Albert Jankowski, his father Dennis Jankowski, and his sister Jody Jankowski. He is survived by his stepmother, Elizabeth Morris; his wife, Wi; his sister, Lynn (Dan) Roemer; his children, Chedta, Jogen, and Nadeem; his nieces and nephews, Grace, Emma, and Joe; his step-nieces and step-nephews; and many other extended family and friends.
Scott was known for his selflessness. He always put others before himself, often displaying a smile that sometimes hid the struggles he was going through. His kindness, humor, and ability to make others laugh will be deeply missed. In the spirit of Scott’s life, we invite friends and family to join us in sharing memories, laughter, and stories—just as Scott would have wanted.
**Rest in peace, Scott. Your legacy of love, adventure, and dedication will continue to inspire us all.**
