Suzanne Kay Ewing, age 75, of Centennial, Colorado went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. She was born on November 29,1948 in Crookston, Minnesota to Lawrence and Anna (Maurer) Altepeter.
Life and Legacy:
Sue grew up in Crookston and loved helping on the family farm in the summers. She was part of a large Catholic family with six siblings. Sue graduated from Crookston Cathedral High School in 1966, after which she worked at a local bank and was a long-distance telephone operator.Sue was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She married Dale Ewing January 13, 1968. In 1974, Dale, Sue and their children, Melissa and Ryan, moved to Littleton, Colorado. She worked as a School Bus Driver for Aurora Public Schools for 32 years where she spent many hours with her friends at “The Bus Barn”.
Family & Interests:
Sue enjoyed reading, riding motorcycles with Dale and crocheting beautiful afghans for her family. She and Dale loved to travel and in addition to visiting most states in the US, enjoyed cruises to many sites as well as tours of Great Britain, Sweden, many European countries, South America and South Africa. She cherished a large group of home-town friends who maintained a close relationship over the years, providing love and support to one another. Sue’s family and friends will always remember her loyalty, supportiveness and selflessness. Her favorite color was yellow which perfectly illustrates the light and warmth she brought to the lives of all who knew her.Sue is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dale Ewing, her children Melissa Daniel (Scott) & Ryan Ewing (Liz), her grandchildren Madison McKenzie (Jackson) & Nathan Daniel and her brother Lawrence “Butch” Altepeter. She was preceded in death by her parents Anna and Lawrence Alterpeter as well as her five older sisters: Irene Noesen, Delores Short, Katie Knowles, Barb Scott, and Shirley Lucken.
Services:
A celebration of life will be held at Our Lady of Loreto on June 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A reception will be held at Sue & Dale’s home following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association.Final Thoughts & Conclusion:
The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support for Sue and the family over the past weeks. They would also like to thank the incredible team of doctors, nurses and staff at Littleton Adventist Hospital for the care and support they provided Sue and the family in her final days. Sue will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
