Victoria Stone

Victoria Stone, age 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11th, 2024, in her home in Denver, Colorado after suffering an unexpected, sudden heart failure. Victoria was born on August 21st, 1959 In Williams Bay, Wisconsin to Kenneth and Elaine Spotz. She graduated from High School in Florida in 1977 before moving to Texas, where she met and married David Stone on May 26, 1984. Vicky and David then moved to Denver, Colorado where they raised two boys, Kevin and Eric.  She always said that they were the best thing she ever did with her life.  She then started her career working in early child care.

Vicky was admired by all who knew her for her sense of adventure and positive outlook. She was best known for her ever-present joy and her contagious laugh. She had a passion for the arts and volunteered at her childrens’ elementary school to ensure that art programs remained part of the curriculum. She was also a regular volunteer and active member at Our Father Lutheran Church for many years where she was well known by the staff and congregation. Vicky found strength in worship and had a particular skill for sharing God’s love with children, which served her well during her time as a preschool teacher at both St. Luke’s Little School, and All Souls Catholic School. After retiring from teaching, she took up a role as a nanny and play partner for a wonderful boy, Will, whom she loved very much.

Vicky loved the outdoors, art, and spending time with her many friends. She was always ready for the next adventure. Whether it was a new art exhibit, or hiking trail, you knew every time you talked to her that you were going to hear about her exciting plans for the future. In 2016, Vicky completed “El Camino de Santiago”, a 491 mile walking pilgrimage across northern Spain. After 6 weeks of walking, she was awarded her completion certificate, or “Compostela”, at the Cathedral in Santiago, Spain. In 2023 she returned to Spain with her two sons for a much more relaxing vacation in the Basque country, where they were able to share their love for learning and exploration.

Victoria is survived by her brothers Ken, Jon, and Jeff, sisters Shelley and Kris, and her sons Kevin and Eric, all of whom will miss her dearly. 

Funeral services will be held at Our Father Lutheran Church on Thursday, January 25th at 11am. Please feel welcome to celebrate the life of Vicky Stone with her family and friends.
