Wanda Lou Burns

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Wanda Lou Burns, beloved grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at Someren Glen Retirement Community in Centennial, Colorado at the age of ninety-two. She was born in Maud, Oklahoma on April 21, 1930, to Edna and Ovel Baker. She married H.J. "Jake" Burns and together they had two children, Larry and Valerie.

Wanda enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, traveling, doing volunteer work at a local hospital, and most of all, spending time with and talking to her numerous friends. She had a sharp wit and an energetic, infectious personality and she never met a stranger. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Ovel; her two brothers, Lee and Clifford; her husband, Jake; and her two children, Larry and Valerie. She is survived by her two grandchildren, Mark and Brian and her four great-grandchildren, Scott, Joshua, Blake, and Jake. She will be cremated and her remains laid to rest next to her husband in Kilgore Cemetery, Kilgore, TX. Per Wanda's wishes there will not be a memorial service. Donations may be directed to her church: Arapahoe Road Baptist Church (arbc.net) or to Littleton Adventist Hospital where she volunteered for many years (mylittletonhospital.org)
