Wayne “Lurch” M. Marne, age 79 passed away on Sunday November 7, 2021 in the comfort of his Aurora Colorado home.
Wayne was born on October 13, 1942 and lived a wonderful life as a 3rd generation Colorado Native growing up in Longmont, CO
Wayne loved being around people and was seen by many as a gentle giant with many friends, who loved helping others. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee of King Soopers for 37 years. He acquired the nickname Lurch from his coworkers and eventually introduced himself as Lurch. Even after retiring he continued to be the organizer and brought his co-workers together frequently. Wayne had many hobbies he was passionate about, including: gardening, bowling, visiting his friends, collecting toy cars and 18 wheelers, spoiling the birds and squirrels and making strangers smile.
Wayne was a generous and loving father and pappa who always showed up bearing gifts when visiting his family. He is survived by his daughter Dana Orme and her husband Chris of Lakewood, CO and his daughter Jennifer Gaines and her husband Jeff of Aurora, CO and three grandchildren; Aaron (30), Skylar (17) and Addisyn (15).
Preceded in death by his father; Herbert Marne, mother; Ruth Cose and his brother; Roy.
Wayne will be remembered in our hearts and memories and greatly missed and so will his Tootsie Pops who so many loved receiving.
Wayne’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday December 11, 2021. Doors open at 10am, Services at 11am, Lunch catered by his favorite restaurant immediately following.
