Wendy L. Stangl

Wendy Louise Stangl, 75, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Wendy was born in Denver, Colorado on November 11, 1948, and adopted by her parents, Donald and Winifred (Andrews) Decker. She was a 1966 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and attended the University of Colorado for a short time. She met Bill (William) Stangl in 1973 and they married on March 22, 1975.

From her early years of riding motorcycles and pitching a tent, she was always up for a camping trip and the pursuit of a perfect fishing spot. She fiercely loved her family and relished her role as a mom where nothing brought her more joy than supporting her kids (Scott, Tracey, and Kristen) in their sports. She was the epitome of a soccer mom, a steadfast and constant presence on their sidelines and in the stands. Perhaps even more than being a mom, she cherished the role of Grammy to her seven grandchildren. Her recent years were spent relaxing with Bill at their beloved cabin, on their boat, tending to the mountain hummingbirds and taking their motorhome to enjoy a fishing spot.

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Winnie. She is survived and deeply missed by her husband, Bill, her son Scott (wife Tami and sons Donovan and Brady), her daughter Tracey (husband Dan and children Rya, Titan and Briar) and daughter Kristen (husband Clint and daughters Braxton and Sterling). She is also survived by her two siblings, Bill Decker and Peggy Decker-Berry (husband Ken) as well as many in laws and nieces and nephews from Bill’s family.

A celebration of life will take place in the spring when Wendy loved to tend to her garden and the flowers in bloom.
